If you’ve been waiting for the regular Xiaomi 18, here’s some good news. The standard model has been certified in China, clearing the way for it to launch on its own. Reports say it will arrive in December 2026, a few months after the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max.
The phone appeared in the database of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) under the model number M261DB. The MIIT is the government body that has to approve a phone before it can go on sale in China. The listing is dated September 23, 2026, the same day Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro series in China.
Xiaomi has confirmed that a base model is coming. When fans asked about the missing standard version, Xiaomi president Lu Weibing replied on Weibo that it would be released separately later, without giving a date. The December timing comes from reports and from tipster Digital Chat Station, who said back in August that the Pro models would launch first and the standard model would follow in December.
Xiaomi has not said why the base phone is launching later. According to reports, spacing out the launches gives each phone its own moment in the spotlight, the same staggered approach Xiaomi has used for some other lineups.
Full specs are not official yet. Here is what leaks and reports suggest so far:
- Chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, built on a 2nm process (the chip’s manufacturing size, where smaller usually means faster and more efficient)
- Camera: a 200MP main camera tuned with Leica
- Battery: around 7,200mAh
- Software: HyperOS 4
- Charging: 100W wired charging, according to a reported certification listing for the global model in Taiwan
- Storage: 256GB and 512GB options, based on the same reported listing
The global version showing up in certification this early has led to speculation that the Xiaomi 18 could go international sooner than last year’s Xiaomi 17, which did not launch globally until February 2026.
Either way, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max are sold only in China for now, with a global launch expected later. There’s no word yet on Nigerian pricing or availability for any Xiaomi 18 model.
