Oppo K15s and K15x Go on Sale in China From 1,399 Yuan

Oppo K15s and K15x Go on Sale in China From 1,399 Yuan

Who says you need to spend big to get a phone that lasts all day? Oppo just launched the K15s and K15x in China, and both pack big batteries for very little money.

I’ve been a fan of Oppo’s budget phones for a while now, especially when it comes to battery life. In today’s post, we’ll be looking at the Oppo K15s and K15x to see which one gives you more for your money. Here’s what we’ll cover: the K15s, the K15x, how they compare, and price.

Oppo K15s

The K15s is the better of the two. You get:

  • A 6.57-inch Full HD+ OLED screen at 120Hz
  • The MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Max chip
  • An 8,000mAh battery with 45W charging, rated for over 2,000 charge cycles
  • IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings
  • NFC, an IR blaster (which lets your phone work as a TV remote) and an in-display fingerprint scanner
  • A 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera

Oppo K15x

The K15x is the cheaper one, and you’ll notice that in a few places. You get a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD at 120Hz, the Dimensity 6300 chip, and a 6,500mAh battery with 45W charging. There’s a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP selfie camera, and IP64 protection.

On the other hand, it keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card support, which some people still love. There’s no NFC, though.

How They Compare

In a nutshell, the K15s gets you a sharper OLED screen, a bigger battery, better water resistance, and a better camera. The K15x saves you money and keeps the headphone jack.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 8,000mAh battery on the K15s
  • OLED screen on the K15s at a budget price
  • Strong water resistance on the K15s
  • Headphone jack and microSD on the K15x
  • 45W charging on both

Cons

  • The K15x’s HD+ screen isn’t very sharp
  • No NFC on the K15x
  • Launch prices only last until October 31
  • Not sold officially in Nigeria

Price

The “1,399 yuan” you’re seeing is a launch sale price that runs until October 31. Here’s how it breaks down:

  • K15x 6GB+128GB: ¥1,399 on sale (normally ¥1,699), which is around ₦285,000
  • K15x 6GB+256GB: ¥1,699 on sale (normally ¥1,999)
  • K15s 6GB+128GB: ¥1,699 on sale (normally ¥1,999), which is around ₦346,000
  • K15s 8GB+256GB: ¥1,999 on sale (normally ¥2,299)

Finally, which one should you get? Here’s my verdict.

The K15s is easily the better buy. For a little more money, you get an OLED screen, a bigger battery, and much better protection. Either way, both phones show where budget phones are heading, and I hope Oppo brings this kind of battery to Nigeria soon.
