OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 16 launches on October 12 in China, and it’s coming with a clear message: this one is built for gaming.
The OnePlus 16 will be powered by Qualcomm’s newest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The headline feature is native 185FPS gaming in supported titles. For games that don’t support high frame rates natively, OnePlus is adding a frame-generation feature that boosts them up to 185FPS.
That aside, OnePlus has built three of its own gaming chips into the phone:
- G3 network chip: OnePlus says it cuts average gaming lag on mobile data by about 13% and makes Wi-Fi about 18.5% more stable
- P4 display chip: handles the very high refresh rates
- T3 touch chip: a dedicated touch pipeline tuned for shooting games
OnePlus has already signed deals with game makers to get native 185FPS modes working in titles like Peacekeeper Elite, and the OnePlus 16 is the official tournament phone for the Peacekeeper Elite pro league in China.
What OnePlus hasn’t shared yet is the full spec sheet, including the camera, battery and price. We should get all of that at the October 12 launch.
When will it come to Nigeria? A global launch hasn’t been confirmed yet. OnePlus usually takes its flagship global a few months after China, and it doesn’t sell officially in Nigeria, so when it does come, it will be through importers.
