Nothing has officially launched the Headphone (1) Pro, and if you thought the first Headphone (1) was already bold, this one takes things a step further. It costs $399 (£349 / €349), which is $100 more than the original, and Nothing is clearly positioning it against the Sony, Bose and Apple flagships.
The big change is inside the ear cups. Instead of one driver, you get three per side: a 40mm driver for bass, a 13×8mm dynamic driver, and a small solid-state xMEMS tweeter for the fine highs. Nothing also lets you tune the main drivers and that third driver separately in its EQ, and there’s a physical switch that snaps the sound back to flat when you just want it neutral.
Noise cancelling has been upgraded too. The Headphone (1) Pro goes up to 46dB of adaptive ANC, up from 42dB on the first model, with a 10-microphone system doing the work.
Now, on the audio side, you get LDAC (up to 24-bit/96kHz) over Bluetooth 6.1, plus lossless audio over USB-C (up to 24-bit/192kHz) and a 3.5mm aux port for when you want to go wired. Spatial audio with head tracking is also here.
Battery life is where Nothing always shows off, and this one is no different. You get up to 68 hours with ANC off and around 30 hours with ANC on (AAC), while 5 minutes of charging gives you up to 4 hours of playback.
That aside, Nothing has also worked on comfort. The Pro is lighter at 327g, with softer ear cups, a wider headband and thicker padding, and glass accents replace some of the plastic. It’s rated IP52 and comes in black and white.
The Headphone (1) Pro goes on sale from September 29 through Nothing’s website, Amazon and Best Buy in supported markets.
What about Nigeria? There’s no official Nigerian price yet. When it lands through importers, expect it to sit in the same bracket as the Sony WH-1000XM series and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra. We’ll update our prices page once it’s in stores.
