Motorola is back in the flagship game. The company has unveiled the Signature 27, its new top-end phone, powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. Motorola showed it off at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on September 22, but it hasn’t shared the full spec sheet, the price or an exact release date yet.
What Motorola has confirmed so far is mostly about performance and cameras. The phone has four cameras on the back. The main one uses a large 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 sensor, and there is a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. A periscope camera folds light sideways inside the phone, which allows longer zoom without a thick camera bump. Motorola has not said anything about the other two rear cameras yet.
Here are the confirmed details:
- Chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
- Main camera: 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 (1/1.28-inch sensor)
- Telephoto: 200MP periscope lens
- Cooling: ArcticMesh system with a 40% larger vapor chamber (a flat metal chamber that spreads heat), liquid metal, copper mesh and diamond-infused thermal gel
- Audio: tuned with Bang & Olufsen
- Build: aluminum frame, with a ceramic and brushed aluminum camera housing
- Colors: Coal Smoke (Tactical Weave finish) and Capulet Olive
- Software support: seven years of Android OS and security updates
Please note that Motorola hasn’t yet shared the display, battery capacity, charging speeds, RAM or storage.
The GrapheneOS project also says the Signature 27 will support GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused version of Android that until now has officially run only on Google’s Pixel phones.
The phone matters for Motorola because the company has not sold a proper flagship in the US in several years. Motorola says the Signature 27 will reach North America “in the coming months” and launch worldwide before the end of 2026, but it has not named other markets or given a price. The first Motorola Signature sold for £899 in the UK, and the new model is expected to cost more.
Either way, there’s no word yet on a launch in Nigeria.
