Apple has released iOS 27.0.1, and if you’re using an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max, this is one update you shouldn’t skip.
The main fix is for a Face ID bug. Some iPhone 18 Pro models were freezing or restarting after a failed Face ID scan, which is exactly the kind of thing you don’t want on a brand-new phone. iOS 27.0.1 fixes that.
Apple also fixed two other issues:
- Some photos taken at 2x zoom with the f/1.48 aperture showed odd colors in certain lighting
- The screen sometimes stopped responding to touch when you opened Notification Center and Control Center at the same time
The update is around 1.21GB, although the exact size depends on your model.
How to update: Go to Settings → General → Software Update, then tap Update Now. Make sure your battery is above 50% (or plug in your charger) and connect to Wi-Fi before you start.
Apple has also released watchOS 27.0.1 for the Apple Watch, so if you have one paired, it’s a good time to update that too.
In a nutshell, it’s a small update, but it fixes real problems. If your iPhone 18 Pro has been acting up with Face ID, this should sort it out.
