If you’ve been waiting for Honor’s next flagship, it’s almost here. Honor will launch its Magic 9 series in China on September 28, 2026. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. local time, and Honor says the phones will go on sale right after. Ahead of the event, specs for all three phones in the lineup have surfaced: the Magic 9, the Magic 9 Pro Max and the Magic 9 Super Edition.
Honor has already confirmed a few things. The rear cameras were developed with ARRI, the German cinema camera maker, and include ARRI-style color tuning. The Pro Max gets two 200MP cameras, one for the main shot and one for zoom. The phones run MagicOS 11. Honor CEO Li Jian has also confirmed that the standard Magic 9 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will sell for 5,999 yuan, or 5,499 yuan with China’s government subsidy.
Please note that the rest of the specs below come from leaks reported in China and haven’t been officially confirmed yet.
Magic 9
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip
- 6.37-inch flat 1.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate (how many times per second the screen updates)
- 200MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide and 200MP 3.5x periscope zoom camera
- 8,000mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging
- 8.49mm thick, 209g, IP68/IP69/IP69K water and dust resistance
Magic 9 Pro Max
- A newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, reportedly the top-end version
- 6.8-inch flat 1.5K LTPO display, a type of screen that can lower its refresh rate to save battery
- 200MP main camera with a larger 1/1.28-inch sensor, 50MP ultra-wide and 200MP 3.5x zoom camera
- 8,800mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging
- 3D face unlock plus an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, 233g
Magic 9 Super Edition
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip with a built-in cooling fan
- 6.81-inch flat 1.5K 120Hz display
- 200MP main, 12MP ultra-wide and 50MP 3x zoom cameras
- 11,000mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging
- 8.1mm thick, 227g
The Magic 9 and Pro Max also get a 55MP square-shaped selfie camera.
Either way, the launch is China-only for now. Honor hasn’t said when the Magic 9 series will reach other markets, though its past flagships have usually gone global a few months after their China debut. Honor already sells phones in Nigeria, but there’s no word yet on local availability or pricing.
