Bose launches $99 wired earbuds with noise cancelling

Bose has done something a lot of people didn’t see coming: it’s launched wired earbuds with active noise cancelling. The Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds cost $99, and they connect with USB-C.

Because they plug straight into your phone, there’s no battery to charge, and you never have to worry about them dying halfway through your commute. The earbuds draw power from your phone.

You still get the Bose features you’d expect. There are three listening modes: Quiet (full noise cancelling), Aware (lets outside sound in) and ANC off. They also support lossless audio over USB-C at up to 24-bit/48kHz.

On the cable, there’s an in-line remote for music and calls, and four microphones in total help with call quality and noise cancelling. They’re rated IPX4 for sweat and splashes, the cable is 4.2 feet long, and Bose includes a carry case.

The earbuds come in Black and White Smoke, with a limited Dewdrop Mint color. Pre-orders open on September 28, and they ship from October 15 through Bose.com and Best Buy.

To be honest, this is a smart move. Wired earbuds are having a comeback, and at $99 this undercuts most of Bose’s wireless range.

Nigeria price? Bose hasn’t announced one yet. When they arrive through importers, expect them to cost more than the $99 US price. Keep in mind they need a USB-C port, so older iPhones with Lightning won’t work without an adapter.
