Tozo open EarRing review
Aug 17, 2025 • Onoja • Sound

I've never been a fan of the TOZO brand until I tested these clip-on earbuds. What I can say is that I'm pretty impressed, from their comfort to their lightweight design, despite their appearance, and their excellent battery life. The TOZO Open Earring is the perfect budget clip-on earbuds available on the market today.
I've been using these earbuds for a while, and I'm already loving them. In this review, we will examine the Open Earring to determine if it's the best budget clip-on earbuds available.
What's in the box?

As a budget clip-on earbud, I wasn't expecting anything exquisite, and TOZO delivered just that. The packaging was very minimalistic, basically one of the low-budget packagings I've seen in earbuds before.
In the box, you'll find the TOZO Open Earring earbuds, the charging case, a user guide, a user manual, a TOZO card for live support, and instructions for downloading the app.

Design

The design of the TOZO Open Earring is nothing short of minimalistic, but what would you expect from budget clip-on earbuds? Although there's a catch to it, the earbuds appear quite bulky, but surprisingly, they're quite lightweight.
The earbuds are made out of plastic, premium-feeling plastic. For budget earbuds, I'm not surprised, unlike the SoundPEATS Pearl Clip Pro, which was made out of multiple material finishes. I feel that TOZO would have done a better job. Although I'm in love with the charging case of the earbuds.

To be honest, the charging case of the TOZO Open Earring feels more premium than the actual earbuds. The finishes of the case were more focused, and the battery % indicator was the show killer. This feature displays the battery percentage of the charging case and the battery percentage of each earbud.
The TOZO Open Earring is a product of minimal yet premium finishing, and to be honest, I felt as if TOZO could have done more. However, for budget earbuds, the TOZO Open Earring is still a standout.

Fit and comfort

The fit of the TOZO Open Earring was nothing short of perfect. After experiencing the grip of the Soundcore C40i, I was impressed with what TOZO had to offer in terms of comfort for these earbuds.
While using this, I did not experience much strain, or little to no strain at all, unlike others I've tested in the past that were either too tight or too heavy on the earlobe. The TOZO earbuds had a comfortable fit, and it wasn't just about how comfortable their fit was; it was also about how easily and effortlessly they slid into the ear without much hassle of trying to keep them in place.
The TOZO Open Earring also performed effortlessly in extended use. I was able to use these earbuds for hours without feeling any strain. Whether I was on a long walk or jogging around the estate, the TOZO Open Earring held up perfectly without any worries of it falling off or getting out of place.

Generally, clip-on earbuds are designed for fit and comfort, as opposed to traditional earbuds that go into your ears, and TOZO did not disappoint in this regard. This, I must say, is one of the best earbuds that do not go into your ear and still offer great sound quality, despite being made from minimalist materials.
Sound quality

The sound quality of the TOZO Open Earring was also a mind-blower, to be honest. TOZO did a good job regarding the sound quality of these earbuds. The TOZO Open Earring maintained a standard sound profile. What I mean in this case is that for clip-on earbuds, the TOZO Open Earring maintained a standard bass and treble, and also maintained a good surround sound.
Although most clip-on earbuds have terrible sound quality, like the Soundcore C40i, the TOZO Open Earring was able to defy this claim, and these earbuds generally emphasized delivering great sound quality across all aspects of their sound profile.
The volume was great at its highest, and it also had pretty good bass and treble. Unlike the Soundcore C40, which primarily emphasized its treble, leaving its bass underdeveloped, it therefore compromised its sound profile.
The bass sounds nice, the treble is also spot-on, and the vocals and instruments are a standout, as is the general sound profile, considering that these earbuds do not come with any special drivers or codecs, just their standard 12 mm drivers, which are common in most clip-on earbuds.
In a nutshell, the sound quality and profile of the TOZO Open Earring are amazing, and considering it's a budget clip-on earbud, this is truly a standout among its kind.
Call & media playback

The call and media playback of the TOZO Open Earring are also nothing short of remarkable. I had a great experience with the call quality of these earbuds. The microphones were one of the best I have experienced for clip-on earbuds. Let's not forget that this does not come with the standard AI ENC microphones that are typically found on regular clip-on earbuds, such as the Anker Soundcore C40i and the Pearl Clip Pro.
While making calls, I did not experience situations where the other individual on the line complained of not hearing me clearly or vice versa; the call quality was superb and crystal clear.
Regarding media playback, on the other hand, I did not experience lag when watching movies for hours or scrolling through social media. The low latency from the Bluetooth 5.4-equipped earbuds really proved to be a lifesaver in this case.
Bluetooth & range
With Bluetooth 5.4, the TOZO Bluetooth connection was seamless. I did not have any issues connecting these earbuds at first. Compared to the Pearl Clip Pro, which initially proved a little disappointing during the first connection, it's now standard for all earbuds to come with Bluetooth 5.4. What do we expect?
The range was also perfect, as I was able to use these earbuds without having to take my phone everywhere in the house. Although I could not get an actual measurement of the range, the TOZO Open Earring performed exceptionally well even with walls and heavy obstructions.
Touch controls & app specs

Over time, I've grown to dislike the touch controls on clip-on earbuds, although the TOZO Open Earring touch controls were initially confusing until I figured them out using the app. The touch controls of the TOZO Open Earring are not particularly decent, as you have to use them from the back of the earbuds, not the front. It was nothing short of mild.
Default touch controls:
- Click: no effect
- Double click: play & pause
- Triple click: previous song
- Long press: voice assist

In addition, the TOZO app was actually on point, except that my country of residence was deliberately excluded from the selection process. Everything else was on point, and I sort of fell in love with the EQ section, as it gave me the chance to use other TOZO users’ customized EQs, which is a game-changer and something quite unique.
Battery life

TOZO brags of 10 hours of usage on a single charge for the earbuds and 40 hours of usage with the charging case on a full charge, and that's nothing short of accurate.
While testing these earbuds, the battery life seemed to exceed expectations, even under heavy usage, which included the highest volumes while listening to music. The battery held up pretty decently. When I was also watching movies on Netflix or scrolling through social media, this battery held up, but less than advertised, at around 30 hours as opposed to the 40 hours listed by TOZO.
Pros and cons of the Tozo Open EarRing
Pros
- Very good sound profile
- Long-lasting battery life
- Crystal-clear call quality
- Customizable app EQ and preset selections
- Very comfortable fit for extended use
- IPX4 water resistance for splash and sweat protection
- Very good battery life, unlike the Haylou Airfree
- Excellent range with Bluetooth 5.4
- Low-latency mode for media playback and gaming
Cons
- Plastic build quality that feels basic
- Wacky touch controls (not very responsive)
- Bulky earbud design
- Cheap packaging, not very pleasing at first sight
- Not all countries are available on sign-up
- The battery doesn’t meet the advertised standards
Should you buy the TOZO Open Earring?
If you are in the market for budget-friendly clip-on earbuds, then the TOZO Open Earring is nothing short of the best clip-on earbuds you can pick up. These earbuds pack a lot for the average price. And I will say it's one of the best clip-ons with an excellent build & good sound profile on the market right now.
For under $39, this is one of the best options available. If I may say, it's only competition is the SoundPEATS Pearl Clip Pro in terms of sound quality; no other clip-on I've reviewed beats this, at least for now.
