iPhone 16 Plus Review

The meta behind many smartphones now is essentially a combination of hardware improvements and a massive amount of AI features, which is actually the trend in today’s world. Apple has finally decided to join the league of AI; the latest 16-inch flagship is entirely based on these AI features. This flagship has just a minimal number of upgrades over the 15 flagships.
Apple has released the iPhone 16 flagship, and most of the anticipated features are still on hold to date, which is more likely to be introduced with the release of the iPhone 17 flagship.
In this review, we will take an in-depth look at the iPhone 16 Plus and what makes it better than the standard iPhone 16.
The first thing we’ll be looking at is the body of the iPhone 16 Plus, specifically the few notable differences with that of the 16 Base version.
The first noticeable difference between the iPhone 16 Plus and the iPhone 16 Base version is size; the iPhone 16 Plus is significantly larger than the regular iPhone 16. The iPhone 16 Plus, with a 6.7-inch display, and the regular iPhone 16, with a 6.1-inch display, are two distinct devices, and that's a significant difference.
Apple now includes the Action button on the IPhone 16 and 16 Plus. This new feature already existed in the previous year’s release, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, which is nice. We also have a camera control button on the 16 Plus.
Honestly, I’m glad Apple made the iPhone 16 Plus significantly bigger than the regular 16, the 16 Pro max is only 0.2-inches bigger than the 16 Plus, for me, this was more them saying if you a fan of our Pro Max versions of iphone and you don’t see the difference between the 16 Pro max over the 15 Pro Max, then you can opt for the 16 Plus, since it is significantly bigger than the 16 bas version. And for me, these two versions of the iPhone 16 flagship are the best, and ones that do not look identical or more like a complete copy of the iPhone 15 flagship.
Next thing we’ll be looking at is the Display of the iPhone 16 Plus
The Display on the 16 Plus is great, super vibrant, and has good viewing angles; the colors are very accurate, exactly what is on the base version 16.
There is one thing I really expected to find on the 16 Plus, which is the ProMotion. During my review of the iPhone 16, I mentioned how disappointed I was that the iPhone 16 doesn’t support the 120 Hz refresh rate.
And given that this is a Plus version of the 16, I expected that a few things we couldn’t get on the 16 would be found on the 16 Plus. However, here we are with the 16 Plus, and it still has the same 60 Hz refresh rate, which leaves me utterly disappointed.
The only notable difference between the iPhone 16 and the 16 Plus is their size; that is the only notable difference. It is more like the 16 Plus is an alternative option, in case you feel the regular 16 is too small to your liking. Then, you can opt for the 16 Plus, which offers a bigger display and more advanced battery life.
Next thing we’ll be looking at is the Cameras of the 16 Plus
The cameras on the iPhone 16 Plus are also very decent. Just like the regular 16, they both feature the same camera lens and take really good pictures in good lighting. The photos come out really nice, color-accurate.
When taking photos in low light and night mode, the pictures come out pretty good, not as good as I expected, but they are decent. It also has good consistency and good autofocus; pictures taken in portrait mode come out great, too.
When it comes to videos, the 16 Plus shoots great 4K footage too; videos are extremely clear and smooth, with excellent color output. I feel that this Plus phone would be a good option for personal daily usage as well.
Just like I said in my regular 16 review, the new camera control button is one that I find to be a stressful, I even had to turn it off from my setting, I’ve a difficult time trying to simply navigate it, it felt like a work load just try trying to interchange my camera mode through the camera control button, this is something i can do within a second through my camera app display.
To me, honestly, it is not worth it; it is a good feature, but they could have given us something we actually needed instead.
The Battery Life of the iPhone 16 Plus
The battery life of the iPhone 16 Plus is superb, better than that of the regular 16, which I had high expectations for. Honestly, the phone is significantly bigger than the regular iPhone 16, so I expected its battery performance to be as good as that of the 16 Pro Max.
The battery life of the iPhone 16 Plus is very decent, actually, it is above decent. I noticed a significant improvement in the battery life of the iPhone 16 Plus compared to the regular 16. The 16 Plus is significantly ahead of the regular 16 in terms of battery life, which is very impressive.
The iPhone 16 Plus, despite having a bigger battery unit, still feels very light to hold, and that was something that really caught my attention. You get a long-lasting battery all in a lightweight device.
When it comes to charging speed, the iPhone 16 Plus might take a little longer to charge fully compared to the regular iPhone 16, considering its larger battery, which is understandable. All iPhone 16 lineups support up to 45-watt charging, providing a slightly faster charging experience compared to those of the 15 lineups. Additionally, the MagSafe now supports up to 25-watt wireless charging, which is better than the usual 15-watt.
Now the General Performance of the iPhone 16 Plus.
The iPhone 16 Plus runs on the A18 Chip, which is what powers all the 16 series devices. Performance on the iPhone is superb. The amazing display, although similar to the base version, the iPhone 16 Plus also didn’t reach the 120 Hz refresh rate.
When it comes to gaming, I totally love the display, a large screen display that suits gaming, and its powerful battery made it quite enjoyable, performance is decent, but it is not the best experience, I played the Call of Duty Mobile on the iPhone 16 Plus and I didn’t really experience any major challenge, except that it tends to overhead over a long time, and I honestly believe that performance would have been a lot better if the iPhone 16 Plus runs on a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Above all, performance is amazing; you can perform your day-to-day tasks without experiencing any issues whatsoever. Scroll through social media, reply to emails, and watch movies, while experiencing an excellent battery life. This is a good daily driver.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the iPhone 16 and the 16 Plus are essentially the same phones; the primary difference between them is size and battery capacity. The 16 Plus is significantly bigger than the regular 16, and it offers better battery performance.
And for pricing, the 16 Plus is only about 100 bucks higher than the regular 16, so the one you choose to go for entirely depends on what you require. If you’re seeking a large display with a powerful battery, then the 16 Plus is a good option for you. However, if you prefer smaller phones, the regular 16 is a good choice; the battery on the 16 Plus may perform better than that of the 16. It doesn’t imply that the 16 itself has a weak battery; the battery on the regular 16 is also amazing, just not as good as what is on the 16 Plus.
