Apple Unveils the iPhone 17 Pro Specs

Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17 Pro, introducing a series of major upgrades over last year’s iPhone 16 Pro. From performance and display brightness to design changes and camera improvements, the new flagship signals Apple’s continued push toward power, speed, and advanced imaging.

Here’s how it compares to the 16 Pro:

• Performance boost – The iPhone 17 Pro debuts the new A19 Pro chip (3 nm), delivering a leap in efficiency and processing power over the A18 Pro found in the iPhone 16 Pro. This upgrade is expected to especially benefit AI-driven features, gaming, and multitasking.
• More memory – Apple has increased RAM to 12 GB, up from the 16 Pro’s 8 GB. The added memory helps support advanced workflows, heavier apps, and on-device Apple Intelligence tasks.
• Design changes – In a surprising move, Apple has ditched the titanium frame of the iPhone 16 Pro and returned to aluminum construction. While this slightly alters the phone’s weight and thickness, it also makes room for the wider camera system.
• Camera system overhaul – The rear camera layout now spans the entire width of the phone, forming a full-width “camera plateau.” It features three upgraded 48 MP sensors and a redesigned telephoto lens that now offers up to 8× optical zoom — the highest ever on an iPhone. The front camera also sees an upgrade, making video calls and selfies sharper.
• Display brightness – The iPhone 17 Pro retains the 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display but boosts peak brightness to an impressive 3,000 nits, a jump from the 16 Pro’s 2,000 nits, ensuring better visibility even in direct sunlight.
• Connectivity & extras – The new device introduces USB-C with faster charging speeds, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and advanced video features like Dual Capture and ProRes RAW with genlock, catering to professional creators.
• Storage options – Apple has removed the 128 GB base model, with storage now starting at 256 GB and going up to 1 TB, giving users more room for large files, videos, and apps.
